I started out as a massage therapist in the early 2000s. It quickly became evident that much of the tension people carry in their bodies is related to stress and trauma in their lives. Feeling called to work with clients on a deeper level, I started training in a bodywork technique called Somatic Re-Education Therapy, which supports physical recovery by addressing root mental and emotional causes.
The COVID shutdown caused my clients to shift to virtual sessions, at which point the counseling aspect of my work became more overt and the energy healing aspect less so. It felt right to get my Master’s in Counseling to deepen and broaden my service.
I’ve since found my ideal clients have an affinity for intuitive work and recognize how issues permeate their mind and body. They seek a deeper sense of self, greater aliveness, and a feeling of control over their lives. It's my goal as a counselor to meet my clients in the tender places with gentle, unconditional acceptance, and help them untangle the beliefs that get in the way of enjoying all life has to offer.
Education and Experience
I earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. I am a Registered Associate Counselor, license #R9203. I specialized in Person-Centered Therapy, Trauma Recovery, Addiction, and mood disorders including Depression and Anxiety during my coursework. I took additional courses on Motivational Interviewing and Restoration Therapy during my Internship.
Previous to my Master’s I was a Somatic Re-Education Therapist, a bodywork technique that helps release trauma from the nervous system that is similar to Somatic Experiencing. From 2009 – 2016 I trained Mindfulness intensively under a spiritual teacher, which gave me many tools for creating a wholly new experience of life.
