Janet Medina, LMFT
Janet accepts:
Kaiser
Independent Contractor Therapist
Whether you’re feeling stuck or working to heal from past hurts, I’m here to partner with you toward meaningful growth and change. Together, we’ll create a space where you can make sense of your story, shift unhelpful patterns, and move toward a fuller, more authentic life. I show up authentically in our work together, and I believe humor can have a place in therapy and help relieve suffering.
I believe therapy works best as a collaboration. You’re the expert on your own life, and my role is to help you discover what works for you. We might explore your relationships, attachment patterns, and how early experiences shaped who you are today. I incorporate mindfulness and somatic awareness exercises to help you feel more grounded, deepen your self-understanding, and find greater meaning. I also enjoy supporting my client's in gaining emotional regulation and distress tolerance skills if it's something they find helpful. I tailor my treatment approach to each individual.
Our space together is judgment-free. As someone who is bicultural, I approach every client with cultural humility and genuine curiosity about your unique background and experience.
Education and Experience
I began my career as a mental health therapist in 2011. Over the past decade, I've worked with individuals, families, and children in community mental health settings, collaborating closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, and case managers to support clients with complex needs. I’m trained in Trauma-Focused CBT, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Accelerated Experimental Dynamic Psychotherapy, and Interpersonal Psychotherapy.
